I think, I scan. I think, I scan. I think, I scan!

Scanning Tagee’s Scrapbooks

July 24, 2012 By Dale Bengston

My grandfather, Tagee Bengston, (1907-2008) was a public servant for over forty years. During his long career, his wife Vayda clipped every article that mentioned his name and pasted it in a scrapbook. By the time he retired, there were twelve volumes. The stack of scrapbooks is about four feet high, so I’ll be scanning for a while. My goal is to scan every page and share them with Tagee’s remaining children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It’s going to take a while. Stick with me! I’ll be posting special or notable pages here in the Scanning Tagee’s Scrapbooks category.

Tagee was a fixture of the Rockford scene. He was a member of the Rockford Lions Club for years, and served as its president. After he retired from public service, Tagee volunteered at Rockford Memorial Hospital for another decade or more.

Tagee Bengston died at age 100. May we all do as well.

I’ll also be posting Tips and Tricks as I learn from this experience. There are a lot of content pages to get through, and though I’ve flipped through these scrapbooks many times over the years, I’ve never paid close attention to every single page.
